Professor Zhou is the academy member of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, chair professor, and PhD supervisor of Sichuan University. She is also the honorary president of the Chinese Stomatological Association, the president of the International College of Dentists Section XIII-China, and the editor-in-chief of International Journal of Oral Science and Bone Research.
Professor Zhou’s research is focused on the etiology and prevention of caries and endodontic/periapical diseases, as well as oral infectious diseases and their correlations with systemic diseases. She works as the Principle Investigator of more than 12 national science projects, and has authored over 400 peer-reviewed scientific articles and more than 20 textbooks/monographs, and is acknowledged as the Most Cited Chinese Researchers in Dentistry (Elsevier). She has also received seven national, ministerial, and provincial scientific and technological achievement awards, including National Science and Technology Progress Award, and received the IADR William Gies Award twice.
